The funniest thing happened to me last valentine’s day, someone gave me flowers that weren’t meant for me! Yeah, I know it sucks to think that the only way you could ever get a valentines bouquet, was by accidentally receiving a flower arrangement that a total stranger was supposed to send to somebody else. But it gets even quirkier because I actually ended up dating the guy who sent the flowers that was intended for another girl! Ok, see it’s a bit of a complicated story, when my friend Max had a crush on this girl Bella he decided the best way to show her he liked her was to send her some flowers for valentine’s day. But the crazy thing was for some reason he ended up putting my name on the card and it got sent to our home so when I asked him about it, he jokingly said that maybe it was fate telling us that we should hook up and get together.

Here is your first Aquaponics at Home system consisting of blue tub, a kitty litter pan, a pump and some tubing. Let’s build it!!!
First, make a window in the lid of the blue tub to allow the tubing to be placed. Do this by cutting out a large section in the front half of the lid using a good knife. Step 2 for the fish tank is to place well washed gravel on the bottom of the tub. This will allow any solid waste that occurs to settle in the gravel and keep it from flowing through the tubing when the pump is circulating the water.
The next step is to place the pump in the bottom of the blue tub. This will be used to circulate the water though the blue tub and kitty litter pan. Make sure the tubing you choose is long enough to go between the bottom of the tank and the kitty litter pan. Set the timer to run for 15 – 30 minutes, 3 or 4 times a day.
Next, in the kitty litter pan, you will require 2 holes. First, using a drill, make a hole in the bottom of the pan big enough to fit the tubing through. The second hole will go on the side of the kitty litter pan, again, big enough to pass the tubing through. Now place the kitty litter pan on top of the blue tub.
It is now time to fill the kitty litter pan with well washed pea gravel. There should be enough gravel to come just above the line you created for the overflow.
Turn on the pump and let the water circulate for a day before adding your fish to the blue tub. Plants will now follow in your kitty litter pan.
You now have created your first Aquaponics system!!!!!
